ADOPTING SAVES LIVES!

By adopting a pet from a rescue group, you'll help save the lives of two animals—the pet you adopt and a homeless animal that can be rescued because of space you make available!

1.5 year old Tia was dumped in our rescue partner’s sanctuary yard at the beginning of April 2022.

When she first arrived, she was a little more of a nervous gal-but that changed very quickly. Over the first few weeks she, learned to trust her foster mama allowing her sweet, loving and playful personality to shine. She was initially afraid of the other dogs at the sanctuary, but after her adjustment to her temporary life at the rescue, she is now a playful and cuddly little lady! Her favourite playmates are larger dogs including a residing Great Dane at the sanctuary.

Tia 10lbs and is veryyyy affectionate, likes to follow you around and be where you are and loves to cuddle with you at night. Although she does like her person, Tia is a typical little and doesn’t like to share. She’s great with other dogs as she’s living with many, but boundaries will need to be set and a proper intro is needed if other dogs are in the residing home.

Meet Sadie! This super sweet 10lbs little bundle of love has a personality of a shy girl, but once she’s confident-she loves to play, run around, cuddle up, get pets and belly rubs!

Her foster parents in the Dominican Republic say she’s social with dogs, cats and babies! Sadie loves her chew toys and isn’t possessive of them. She is crate trained at night but also is able to sleep on her little doggie bed (although she prefers a cushion on a chair).

This little peanut is housebroken and is working on her leash training.

JOURDAN MILLER

Meet Kobe! This little cuddle bundle of love likes to play and jump over some impressive obstacles!

He and his 2 siblings were found dumped at a basketball court in the Dominican Republic at about 5-6 weeks old. At this time, there were found cold, scared and wet as the thunderstorm grew stronger and stronger. Luckily our rescue partners found them and took them home. Unfortunately, it was too late for the sister and she did not survive. His other sibling has now discovered the good life and is at their forever home in Canada.

Kobe is now approx 4 months old and is like most puppies. Meaning he likes to eat anything left lying around and gets very excited/vocal when it is time to eat!

Sure! Our vet clinic and fosters are mostly located downtown Toronto, so if you're willing to drive the distance for the meet and greets, we would love to have you on our adopter roster!

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS FOR BECOMING AN ADOPTER WITH THE BARKING BILLBOARD RESCUE?

  • Live in a home that allows pets, including foster pets
  • Read through the entirety of our foster/adopter manual and partake in the TBB adopter training program
  • Be available to take time off / work from home for at least three full days after bringing the dog home
  • Provide your forever dog with daily engagement training games/walks
  • Enroll in The Doggett Style Training Program, Petcademy and Adopt Secure programs sent to you from your Canine Coordinator.
  • Provide written updates, pictures and videos to your Canine Coordinator during the first 3 months of your adopted, forever furry friend!

I HAVE KIDS, AM I STILL AN ACCEPTABLE APPLICANT?

Of course! Adopting a rescue animal is an opportunity that should be open to families of all shapes and sizes. In order to match you and our rescues with your family as best as possible, please provide as much detail about your family and home within your adoption application.

I LIVE IN A CONDO, CAN I STILL ADOPT?

Definitely! TBB launched to showcase that there are rescue dogs available for adoption in the downtown core of Toronto. We love having our fosters and adopters reside in the city either it be in a townhouse, home, condo or apartment. With that said, we do understand not every dog is going to do well in this setting. Downtown can be a lot for a skittish foster. If after the first 3 days you find this to be an issue, please contact your Canine Coordinator immediately so we can triage the situation.

WHAT SUPPLIES ARE PROVIDED?

All of TBBR adoptable dogs are equipped with loss prevention tools and a customized meal pla needed in order for a successful start to the good life!

No experience is needed! All of our foster and forever humans will be enrolled in an extensive training program to make sure you and your home are ready to take on the tiny dog-shaped tornado taking a pit stop at your house for the next 3+ weeks, or for the rest of yours/their lives! We want to provide you with the tools you need — both physically and mentally — to lead your forever dog seamlessly from their foster life, to their forever home. It’s you who provides the training, stimulation, and love to these pups.

CAN I STILL ADOPT IF I HAVE OTHER ANIMALS IN THE HOME?

Definitely! Within our adoption application we have a whole section dedicated to resident pets in order to match you and your pets with the perfect forever furry friend!

WHAT IS TBBR'S ADOPTION FEE?

Puppies up to 1 year $890 + tax
